Refrigerators and Freezers

Is the refrigerator/freezer not working?
  1. Check the power supply. Try plugging a hair dryer or lamp into the outlet the refrigerator/freezer is plugged into to see if the outlet is functioning.
  2. If the refrigerator/freezer is plugged into a power bar or extension cord, try plugging it directly into the wall outlet.
  3. Is the temperature control (located inside the fridge or on the back, or on the back or side of the freezer) turned on? If not turn the knob to the middle position and allow the fridge/freezer to cool. You may have to adjust the temperature further if the fridge/freezer is too cool or not cool enough.
  4. Is there sufficient space between the refrigerator and the surrounding walls to allow for proper air circulation around the unit? Ensure that there are 4” on each side of the fridge or freezer, including in the back, to allow the air to circulate properly.
      2 Cubic Foot Refrigerators

What happens if my 2 cubic foot refrigerator stops working?
Please note: before proceeding it is very important that you know that you have a 2 cubic foot refrigerator before doing the troubleshooting below. If you do not know and proceed you will destroy the fridge. If you are not sure you have a 2 cubic foot refrigerator please contact Coldex before proceeding. Sometimes these units develop an "air lock" in the operating system due to major temperature change in your room. If you are sure you have a 2 cubic foot silent unit, and it has stopped working, follow the following procedure.
  1. Is the unit plugged in? Is the dial (located on the inside bottom left) turned closckwise to full? If yes, proceed to step #2. If not plug the unit in, or turn the dial to full and wait for 4 hours before proceeding to step #2.
  2. Is the inside of the freezer compartment cold? If yes, the unit is working. If not, proceed to step #3.
  3. If the freezer is not cold, check the back of the unit to see if it is hot. There is a small tube coming out of a long box on the right hand side of the unit on the back. Touch the tube and see if it is hot. CAUTION ! THE TUBE MAY BE VERY HOT! If it is very hot proceed to step #4. If it is not, email or call Coldex.
  4. Unplug the unit.
  5. Flip the unit upside down. The unit may have an "air lock" and flipping it upside down should release the lock. Leave the unit flipped upside down for 2 hours. After two hours proceed to step #6.
  6. After 2 hours, flip the unit back over and plug it in. Wait 2 hours, and proceed to step #7.
  7. Ensure the dial (located on the inside ofn the bottom left) is turned clockwise to the fullest until it stops turning. After 2 hours, the inside of the freezer should be getting cold. If not email or call Coldex.
